in working with the idea of memory and things lost and found i was very excited to encounter christian boltanski’s work.

i also discovered the poets/writers Matthew and Michael Dickman who are twins. They were asked to write poems about their experience with each other. i had remembered Michaels because it had a line in it i found most lovely.

“Everything I am not

is walking across the room towards me

and looks just like me.”

this also reminds me of another found photo someone found for me from the museum i think. its just so fragile and small and lovely and it breaks my heart.

because my sibling happens to be my twin i can’t ignore Mary Ellen Mark’s book “Twins”.

they were interviewed in the back of the book and i thought they were adorable.

M.E. Mark : Who’s smarter? You or Cydney?

Alexandrea : Me.

M.E. Mark: Why are you smarter?

Alexandrea: Because i know lots more stuff that she doesn’t know. i know how to snap my fingers, and math is easier for me, and i can…i can…i can whistle better.
